Hair Tips No.2 - Got2b Oil-Licious with Argan Oil

So recently i've had wonderful visit from my lovely best friend who's trying to grow her hair so i said i'd share with her some of my top hair tips!!

I've done one of these before, however it was quite a while ago! If you've seen it, i had a BEFORE and AFTER picture of the length of my hair.

I'd previously done some research into how to look after your hair and what you can do to help it grow. Obviously since then, i've changed a few things when it comes to my hair! (I previously had quite a lot cut off to make it healthy again, which was heart breaking! But it's finally starting to grow again, Yay! and it's the best it has felt for years!)

Here are my TOP tips:

  • Don't straighten/curl it EVERY DAY! Leaving it natural some days, maybe in a loose bun on the top of your head really does help! And these days a messy bun is in trend! Maybe straightening it once a week is ok!
  • Let it dry naturally, or use a a low heat setting!  I try hard not to use heat on my hair, it just doesn't do it any favours!
  • Certain Foods! Eat eggs, beans, nuts, yogurts and cheese! There's other foods such as whole-grain cereals, dark green vegetables, banana's, etc.
  • Multivitamins!
  • Excersise!
  • Head massage! Tip your head upside down once in a while and just give your self a little head massage!
  • Don't over brush! Believe it or not, over brushing your hair can be bad. It can pull full strands from the roots, so maybe one or twice a day!
  • Loose hair bands! Tying hair up tightly can break or damage strands.

Recently, my hair's been in such a good condition and has been so easy to handle! (Previously having long, thick knotty hair!)

I've been using herbal essences shampoo and conditioner (i know everyone has their own brands that they get on best with!)

After towel drying my hair after washing it, i'll put a fair amount of 'BED HEAD - EGO BOOST Split end Mender, Leave in conditioner' as i have really thick hair and tie it up in a loose band on the top of my head.

Once my hair's finally dried naturally, i'll spray some 'TRESemmé heat defence' through my hair, to protect it from any heat (If I'm going to straighten/curl it, which i only do once a week at the most!)

Whether leaving my hair natural or styling it, i've recently started using 'Schwarzkopf got2b Oil-licious - With Argan Oil' Which is a weightless dry oil mist, which smooths and gives you tangle free locks! Its by far the best product i've ever used! It definitely does what it says on the tin!! This spray says it can be used everyday, however i only use it once a week as my hair just doesn't get knotty or frizzy after using it the 1st time! I would definitely recommend it to anyone! :-)

So there we go! My top tips for looking after my hair! :-)
Most of these products are available at Boots or Superdrug!
Please feel free to leave comments and your tips!

My top simple Hairstyle Inspirations and Tips

I always used to get bored with my hair, I never used to look after it though. I used to dye and straighten it all the time. It got to the point, were I had to have it all cut off - terrifying!

I quite liked, my hair short... it was cute and brilliant for summer! Except... I couldn't do much with it! If you've read my previous blog about being underweight, as you can imagine, I was unhealthy and my hair didn't grow a lot! However, that changed! After id got myself back on track, I did some research into looking after your hair. And my hair was growing faster than ever. It's now quite long (longer at the back), thick and curly, but looks natural and I wouldn't change it!

August 2011 - Naturally Curly / June 2013 - Naturally Curly

  • I stopped straightening it every day - I left it naturally curly most of time, which actually looked cute!
  • I hardly ever used the hair dryer, I'd leave my hair to dry naturally, so I wasn't using heat.
  • I know this sounds really stupid, but I used a shampoo and conditioner called 'Fast' or 'Mane and Tail' which is actually known as a horse product, but is really good for human hair as it has no harsh chemicals in it. It made my hair feel beautiful.
  • I started taking multivitamins!
  • I ate foods with protein sources, like eggs, beans, nuts, yogurt and cheese. Other foods too, such as whole-grain cereals, dark green vegetables, banana's, etc.
  • Believe it or not, Brushing your hair too much can be bad, as it can full strands out of the roots, so I brushed it sometimes just once a day, or twice.
  • I tied my hair up loosely, tying hair up tightly, can break or damage strands.

So here's some Hairstyles, that I love! As you can tell, most of the them are curly, big and messy, but that's what I love. easy and simple... but  looks lush!

What's attractive about being a size 0-6?

This is one of my biggest pet hates... I mean, what's so attractive about looking like a bag of bones? Really? All these Models, being made to look stupidly skinny, why?

Just a few examples that make me think.... why? What's glamorous about it?

Throughout my teenage years, I've always been slim, in 2010-2011, I was going through a lot of stress at the time. Eating and looking after myself was the last thing on my mind. Before I knew it, I was a size 6 and underweight. I didn't realise how skinny I looked but they do say the mirror adds 10 pounds right? It wasn't until a certain friend of mine and my family noticed how skinny I was looking, that I realised that I needed to start looking after number 1, and that's myself!

It's so easy to forget to eat and look after yourself when your going through a really hard time... however, things slowly started to get better and I was starting to eat more and look after myself every day. Today, I'm a size 8-10 and my weight is around about 8.11st and im so happy. Im still slim and quite toned, but with a bit of weight, I feel better and I've been told I look a lot better for it.

Being a fashion student, one day I hope to go far, maybe have my own collections on cat walk and if I do, I highly doubt im going to have size 0-6 models, modelling my garments, in my opinion, it just isn't pretty and make's the garments look... ugly?

My Pinterest Addiction.

I used to really get upset with myself when i struggled to find inspiration for a project at College or University, But then Pinterest came into my life!

On pinterest, i found so much to do! It's basically a Social Networking site, similar to Blogging! I spend hours on it, just looking at images and idea's. It really is fantabidozie!

This is my main page, where i find new things to inspire me, These are images people have 'pinned' to their boards. If i like something, i normally tend to 're-pin' it onto one of my 'boards' so i can look back at it but to also show my friends what i've found.

This is my 'Boards'(theme/group) page. Full of my different interests, from fashion, food, to things like architecture, etc! These are where all my images are, some that i've added myself, some that i've 're-pinned' from what other's have pinned. It's all just about sharing inspiration and inspiring others!

I find myself on this website for hours, really is a good cure for boredom! There is many things to look at, if it's not in the mains list, your more than likely that you'll find it if you put some key words in the search box.

So yes, im totally addicted, I'ts constantly giving me new idea's... being a fashion design student, i can get a lot of idea's from the images i come across, including sketchbook inspiration to go with it!

I CAN'T STRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE IT!

Hippies, Gypsies Fashion Inspiration

You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but most of the time we can tell the personality of a person, by what they are wearing.

Today there are many styles out there. But one that I personally like, is the Hippy/Gypsy sort of look. It originated back in the 60's and 70's, which seems to be making a comeback as 'BoHo-Chic'

I realised this when doing a 60's project last year at University, I found myself spending hours just researching and collecting images as the mix of colourful patterns, materials and accessories caught my eye and ever since, I still find myself doing it.

Hippie's had a different meaning in life, they lived for the freedom and had a big influence on music.
I just love everything about this Culture!
